Adelheid "Kitty" Bowen

Adelheid Kitty Bowen Adelheid "Kitty" Bowen, 91, of New Castle passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, Feb. 19, 2019, in Quality of Life Services.
Mrs. Bowen was born Sept. 14, 1927, in Rochowetz, Poland. She was a daughter of the late Ernest and Rosa (Rosenburg) Lauenburger.
Kitty immigrated to the U.S. following World War II and married Philip Bowen on Feb. 13, 1948. He preceded her in death Nov. 3, 2002.
A homemaker, she dedicated her life to caring for her family and their home. Kitty was a longtime member of St. Mary Church, Mary, Mother of Hope Parish, New Castle.
She also belonged to the Ladies of the Dukes in New Castle and enjoyed playing bingo. Kitty loved to be "on the go," and until recently enjoyed taking daily walks. She was a very kind and lovable person that will be dearly missed by many.
Kitty is survived by a daughter, Helen Carr and her longtime companion, David Nilsen, of Walhalla, South Carolina; a son, Joseph Bowen, of New Castle; a sister, Hilda Milliman of Germany; two grandchildren, Kendra (Daniel) Ford and Joseph (Krissie) Carr; six great-grandsons; and a great-great-grandson.
In addition to her parents and husband, Kitty was preceded in death by a grandson, Shane C. Carr; three sisters; and two brothers.
Calling hours will be 10 a.m. to noon Friday (2-22-19) at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle. A Mass of Christian burial will be 12:30 p.m. Friday in St. Mary Church, 124 N. Beaver St., New Castle, with Rev. Anthony Sciarappa as celebrant.
Entombment will be in Castle View Memorial Gardens, Neshannock Township.
