Alan Michael Shaffer 70, of West Elizabeth Street, New Castle, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, at VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler.
Alan was born in New Castle on Oct. 12, 1946, to the late Walter Paul and Frances G. Moore Shaffer.
Alan retired from First Energy in 2007, where he was a draftsman.
He was a member of the Eastbrook United Methodist Church.
He graduated from New Castle High School in 1964, and Pittsburgh Technical Trade in 1966.
He served his country in the Army during the Vietnam Conflict.
Survivors include a brother, Melvin (Doris) Shaffer of New Castle; a niece; a nephew; two great-nieces and a great-nephew.
Visitation will be 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Eastbrook United Methodist Church, 2412 Eastbrook Road, New Castle.
A funeral service will be 4 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Loren McQueen officiating.
Interment will follow at Greenwood Methodist Cemetery, New Castle.
Memorial contributions may be made to Eastbrook United Methodist Church
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Smith Funeral Home, 310 W. Neshannock Ave., New Wilmington.
