Alexander's Story

Alexander B. "Alex" Kuchynka, 67, of New Castle passed away the afternoon of Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at Select Specialty Hospital in Boardman, Ohio.
Born on Jan. 12, 1950, in New Castle, he was a son of the late Benjamin and Beatrice Nocera Kuchynka.
Surviving at home is his beloved wife of 44 years, the former Elizabeth A. "Betsy" Augostine, whom he married on May 5, 1973.
Alex had worked as a delivery driver for Matthews Casket Company. He also had worked as a shop steward for Youngstown Sheet and Tube.
Alex enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching television and playing the lottery. He loved all sports, but was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Penguins.
Alex cherished the time he spent with his best friend, his dog Chance.
In addition to his wife, Alex is survived by his children, Richard J. Micco and Gloria J. Colello, both of New Castle; granddaughter, Ashley Marie Micco Juresic of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister-in-law, Joanne Feola; aunts, Kay and Josephine Nocera; and cousin, Stephanie Mazzanti.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Assunta Nocera; aunt and uncle, MaryJane and Sam Perrotta; aunt, Pauline Nocera Micco; and uncles, Angelo and Anthony Nocera.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St.
Blessing services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Interment will take place in Parkside Cemetery.
