Alma's Story

Alma Myers, 92, a lifelong resident of Bessemer, passed away on Wednesday morning, Aug. 3, 2017, at UPMC Jameson, New Castle.
Alma was born in North Beaver Township on Oct. 6, 1924, the daughter of Joe and Theresa Puz Mohorich.
She attended and graduated from Bessemer High School with the class of 1943. After her education, Alma found employment as a secretary at the Bessemer Limestone Co. She also worked at the local Islay's in town and, before she married, her last position was as a clerk at Neisner's in New Castle.
Alma met Raymond Myers in New Castle and married him on July 6, 1948. She then became a devoted wife and mother to her husband and three daughters.
Alma was a devoted member of the Bessemer Presbyterian Church, serving as a Teacher, Elder and Deacon. She was active with the Rotarians and was on the Bessemer Volunteer Fire Department's women's auxiliary.
She leaves behind her daughters and son-in-laws, La Ray Guthrie and Joseph of Masury, Ohio, Rhodell Magnone and Larry of Edinburg and Spring Harriger and Jeff of Youngstown, Ohio. Also surviving are Alma's sister Fran Aldan of Ellwood City; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond, sister Mildred Colick and brother Joseph Mororich
Visitation is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, from the hours of 6 to 9 p.m. at the Terry A. Cunningham Funeral Home in Bessemer and Tuesday at the Bessemer Presbyterian Church from 9:30 to the 10:30 a.m. services in the sanctuary.
Alma will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Graceland Cemetery.
