Anthony R. Fontana, 87, of New Castle passed away the morning of Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, at Golden Hill Nursing Home.
Born Oct. 28, 1929, in New Castle, he was a son of the late Thomas and Philomena Rotunno Fontana.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mary Graves, who passed away Oct. 23, 2000.
Anthony retired from LTV Steel.
He honorably served his country as a member of the Navy during the Korean Conflict.
Anthony was a member of St. Vitus Church.
He was a member of the VFW Post 315 and enjoyed golfing and repairing golf carts. Anthony's greatest joy came from spending time with his family and friends.
Anthony is survived by his son, Anthony Fontana Jr. of New Castle; brother, Ralph Fontana of New Castle; companion, Rachel Pallott; and former wife, Jean Mora.
Visitation will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will conduct military rites at 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
A procession will leave the funeral home at 11 a.m. Monday to attend a Mass of Christian burial at 11:30 a.m. at St. Vitus Church, officiated by the Rev. Frank Almade, pastor of St. Vitus Church.
Burial will take place at St. Vitus Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Anthony and mailed to the VFW Post 315, 1820 E. Washington St., New Castle, PA 16101; or the American Legion Post 343, 134 N. Jefferson St., New Castle, PA 16101.
