Arlene S. Leidy
She was born Jan. 17, 1931, in Monessen, a daughter of the late Wilbur and Lillian (Palomaki) Shevel.
She was married to Blaine I. Leidy, who died Oct. 24, 2004.
Mrs. Leidy was a graduate of Monessen High School, Indiana Teachers College with a bachelor's degree in education and the University of Pittsburgh with a master's degree in education.
She was a third-grade teacher in the Penn Hills School District, taught at Forest Hills Nursery School, and was director of Calvary Preschool Center in Irwin, Pennsylvania, retiring after 14 years.
Mrs. Leidy was an organist at Calvary Assembly Church in Irwin and enjoyed music, singing in trios and duets, playing the organ, reading and photography. She also loved having dinner parties with family and friends.
She is survived by a son, Bruce K. Leidy and his wife, Cris, of New Castle; a brother, Dr. W. Lee Shevel and wife, Faye, of Oro Valley, Arizona; and two sisters, Dorothy M. Pandolph of New Castle and Ruth E. Hannold of Bedford, Pennsylvania.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, David P. Shevel; and a sister, Judith J. Thomas.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the William F. and Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Ave.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Matthew Bupp will officiate.
Burial will be in Beulah Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Churchill, Pennsylvania.
