Barbara A. Joseph, 71, of Union Township passed away the morning of Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Born on Aug. 1, 1946, in New Castle, she was a daughter of the late Alex M. and Cecelia A. Duzyk Elias.
Surviving at home is her beloved husband of 52 years, Richard J. Joseph, whom she married on Sept. 6, 1965.
In her earlier years, Barbara worked at The Big J. Supermarket. She also owned the Kake and Kandy Supply Shop. Barbara later worked at Bagels Plus Shop and then for Dairy Queen.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Maronite Catholic Church.
Barbara enjoyed crocheting, baking cookies and cakes, and cooking Lebanese and Polish food. Barbara will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister and aunt, who cherished spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, Barbara is survived by her children, Richard J. Joseph Jr. and Barbara of Southington, Ohio, and Heather Joseph and Steve Austin of Philadelphia; sisters, Alexandra "Sandy" Ferrese and Bob, Patricia Ryan and Timothy, and Kristina DelPrincipe, all of New Castle, and Jo-Ann Murray and Jim of Tennessee; and several loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bruce Elias.
Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. A service of incense will be conducted at 6:45 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Monday to attend a funeral Liturgy at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Maronite Catholic Church, officiated by the Rev. Claude Franklin.
Entombment will take place in Parkside Mausoleum.
