Beverly Rae Witherspoon
Born Nov. 24, 1939, in San Francisco, California, to the late Raymond and Ethel Miller Whalen, Beverly grew up in Enon Valley.
She graduated from Bessemer High School before attending Youngstown Business College.
In April 1958, she married the love of her life, Edward Witherspoon, who survives, and together, they enjoyed creating their family over their 60 years of marriage.
As a mother of five children, she never ran out of love to be shared and found herself the foster mother of numerous foster children from the Bair Foundation.
In 1984, the family moved to Florida, where she created a rich career within Sun Trust Banks, retiring as their executive administrative assistant.
Her smile and hugs will be greatly missed by her children, Deborah Hennon (Ronald) of Edinburg, Kristi Lee (David) of West Palm Beach, Florida, Barbara Venditto of Brooksville, Florida, Robert Witherspoon (Laurie) of Greenville, South Carolina, and Rebekah Betzler (Steven) of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
Known as "Grandma the Great," her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Gregory Hennon, Shiane Hennon, Michael Hennon (Jamie), JJ and Jon Tridenti, Riley and Jaxxon Hennon, Danielle Lliles (Vincente), Gwen and Axel Lliles, Jason Liskooka (Heather), Vanessa Zagaeski (Matt), Sarah and Benjamin Zagaeski, Michelle Venditto, Renee Finkbeiner, Katie Witherspoon Collins (Andy), Brennan Witherspoon, Justine Dinonno (Patrick), Mason Appleby, Joshua Dinonno and Olivia Betzler will remember her always as the person with unbelievable sewing skills, creating masterpieces worn at proms and weddings; the best hostess EVER and the grandmother who loved outdoors and cardinals.
Also celebrating her well-lived life are her brother, Gene Whalen (Carol) of Enon Valley; her sister-in-law, Bette McKim of Enon Valley; and her brother-in-law, Dale Witherspoon (Nancy) of Summerfield, Florida.
A celebration of life will be held in July when all 40 family members can be together.
Until then, all who wish to honor her life may make memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association in her name.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Terry A. Cunningham Funeral Home of Bessemer.
