Clair's Story

Clair T. "Sonny" Damon Jr., 70, of Union Township passed away the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Born on July 26, 1947, in Jamestown, New York, he was a son of the late Clair T. Sr. and Helen Castler Damon.
Surviving at home is his beloved wife of 53 years, the former Linda Boardman, whom he married on July 25, 1964.
Sonny was a graduate of Corry High School.
After working for more than 25 years, he retired as a Pennsylvania State Trooper in 1997.
Sonny lived in Union Township for 44 years and formerly served as a township supervisor. He also was a longtime member of the Union Township Lions Club.
He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
In his earlier years, Sonny coached Little League Baseball and Pop Warner Football and served as a Scout Master for Cub Scouts Pack 757.
In addition to his wife, Sonny is survived by his children, Clair T. (Tom) Damon III and wife, Kelly, and Michael Damon, both of Union Township; brother, James Damon of North East, Pennsylvania; sister, Alice Wooden of Bear Lake, Pennsylvania; and grandchildren, Marissa Damon, Clair T. Damon IV and Julie Damon.
Honoring his wishes, there are no calling hours and services are private.
Memorial contributions may be made in Sonny's honor to American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205; or Wesley United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 1204 W. Washington St., New Castle, PA 16101.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St.
