Clara Yerage, 90, was called home to God on the morning of Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Golden Hills Nursing Home.
Born on June 2, 1926, in New Castle, she was a daughter of the late Guiseppe and Louise Izzo Tranquillo.
On Feb. 17, 1947, she married her beloved husband, Edward John Yerage Sr., and the two of them spent more than 50 wonderful years together until he preceded her in death on Aug. 29, 2009.
Clara was a controller for the Villa Maria Community Center for many years.
She graduated from New Castle High School in 1944 and was a devout member of St. Vitus Church.
Clara loved to crochet, play cards, spend any time with her family that she could and she loved to cook.
Clara is survived by her children, Linda Hermann and her husband, Dolph Hermann, Edward Yerage Jr., and John Yerage and his wife, MaryAnn Yerage; her brother, Salvatore "Sam" Tranquillo; four grandchildren, Alissa Hermann Sgro and her husband, Bruce Sgro, Kimberlee Hermann Kaercher, Edward L. Yerage and his wife, CJ Yerage, and Amanda Yerage; and six great-grandchildren, Nina Sgro, Angela Sgro, Dominic Sgro, Sam Kaercher, Clare Kaercher and Samantha Yerage. Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, James and Carl Tranquillo.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St.
A procession will leave DeCarbo's at 10:30 a.m. Saturday to attend a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. at St. Vitus Church, officiated by the Rev. James Downs.
Entombment will take place in Resurrection Mausoleum.
