Clarence 'Clem' Hassinger

Clarence Edwin "Clem" Hassinger, 92, of Whispering Oaks, Hermitage, formerly of New Wilmington, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018, at his residence.
Clem was born on June 25, 1926, to LeRoy and Sarah Lake Hassinger.
He married Jessie Garrett Morris on June 25, 1987, and she survives at the residence.
Clem served in World War II in the Army Air Corp.
He retired from Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania.
He formerly owned Clem's Nursery and donated produce to the Mercer County Food Bank and Women's Shelter.
He was a tax preparer for seniors and enjoyed working the land, canning and freezing. He also enjoyed traveling, reading, playing cards and bird-watching.
In addition to his wife, Jessie, survivors include a son, Curtis Hassinger of Atlanta, Georgia; a son-in-law, David Olynk of Chardon, Ohio; and two grandchildren, Matthew and Amber of Chardon, Ohio.
Preceding him in death were his first wife, Hazel Grove Hassinger; daughter, Cathy Olynyk; a sister; and four brothers.
Funeral arrangements are private and have been entrusted to the Smith Funeral Home, 310 W. Neshannock Ave., New Wilmington.
