Daniel P. Spiecher Sr., 80, of New Castle passed away the evening of Sunday, March 12, 2017, at Golden Hill Nursing Home.
Born on Aug. 31, 1936, in Hastings, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Dan and Dorothy Spiecher.
On Oct. 20, 1955, he married his beloved wife, the former Betty L. King, and the two of them spent 61 years together until she preceded him in death on Jan. 22, 2017.
Daniel retired as a steelworker.
He was a member of Clifton Flats Alliance Church.
Daniel's greatest joy came from playing guitar and singing at churches and nursing homes.
Daniel is survived by his children, Daniel Spiecher Jr. and his wife, Margaret, of Slippery Rock, Terry Spiecher and his wife, Theresa, of Gainesville, Georgia, Lowry T. Spiecher and his wife, Barbara, of New Castle, and Sandra Valerio and her husband, Joseph, of Poland, Ohio; his brothers, James Spiecher and his wife, Suzanne, of New York and Art Wagner and his wife, Mary Ann, of New Castle; his sisters, Sally Weakland of New Castle and Lucille Douds of Florida; his stepsister, Nancy Stiles of New York; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ted Spiecher.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St.
Memorial services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Jarod Mills. Interment will take place in Savannah Cemetery.
