David R. Bongivengo, 80, of Neshannock Township passed away the evening of Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Born on Feb. 18, 1937, in New Castle, he was a son of the late Vitus and Anne Panella Bongivengo.
Surviving at home is his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 58 years, the former Valgene Fenati, whom he married on Oct. 24, 1959.
A Youngstown State University graduate, David had worked as a systems analyst for Sharon Steel and retired from Wheatland Tube.
He served his country as a member of the Army.
David was a member of St. Camillus Church.
In his earlier years, he coached Little League baseball and football. David enjoyed spending winters in Florida with his wife. He will always be remembered as a devoted husband and father and a people person who cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by his son, David A. Bongivengo of Delaware, Ohio; brother-in-law, John Fenati and wife, Beverly, of New Castle; sister-in-law, Dorothy Bongivengo of New Castle; two nieces and two nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Peter Bongivengo; niece, Janet Bongivengo Veltre; and nephew, Steven Bongivengo.
Visitation will be held 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road.
A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Monday to attend a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Camillus Church, officiated by the Rev. Michael Peck.
Entombment will take place in Parkside Mausoleum.
