David Lewis Crothers, 84, of New Castle passed away on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
He was born on July 4, 1933, in Castlewood, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Walter W. and Elizabeth M. Rhinehart Cro-thers.
He married Donna J. Florida on April 23, 1955, and she survives.
David served in the Army during the Korean War as an Specialist 3.
He worked as a millwright/welder for Babcock & Wilcox Steel until he retired in 1983.
David enjoyed reading, camping and doing puzzles.
Most of all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in New Castle.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Iris Gayle (Steve) Mitchell and Debra (Steve) Robinson, both of New Castle, and Betsy (Larry) Izzo of College Grove, Tennessee; a brother, Frederick Crothers of New Castle; five grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Crothers; and his sister, Norma Jean Hufford.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, 2429 Wilmington Road.
A memorial service will be held immediately following at 7 p.m. with the Rev. John Yergan officiating.
