David Weinschenk George, 93, of New Castle passed away on July 21, 2017 after a brief illness.
Born in New Castle, December 19, 1923, to Katherine Weinschenk George and Isaac E. George, Mr. George was a licensed professional mechanical engineer whose career spanned over 50 years. He was employed by United Engineering and its subsequent owners between 1945 and 2003. He worked worldwide in designing and engineering mills, presses and calendars for steel, aluminum, rubber, plastics, and wood.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Mary Jane Pritchard George; sons Timothy David of New Castle and Jeffrey Allen of South Padre Island, TX; grandchildren, Eliot Zbozny George (wife Catherine), and Sarah Zbozny George of Seattle. Also surviving is a brother, Isaac E. George, Jr. of New Castle.
He was preceded in death by brothers Joe George and Paul George; sisters Mildred Barris, Jean Kelley and Opal Lawrence; and grandson, Noah Zbozny George.
Mr. and Mrs. George were founding members of Faith Country Chapel in New Castle. They served as youth leaders for many years and Mr. George served for many years on the Board of Directors for the church as well as The City Rescue Mission in New Castle.
Mr. George was an avid muskie fisherman and enjoyed working on his antique Triumph sports car.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 4pm to 8pm at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.
Funeral services will take place Tuesday at 11:00am at Faith Country Chapel, 3818 Old Butler Road, with the Rev. Stephen Miller officiating.
Interment will be in Castle View Cemetery.
