David John Snyder, 85, of Edinburg passed into Glory on May 25, 2019, after residing for five months at Carriage Manor Personal Care Home in New Castle.
He was born on Feb. 24, 1934, in Hubbard, Ohio to Peter and Betty Snyder.
David was a graduate of Hubbard (Ohio) High School. He was in the Naval Reserves for 6 years before attending the Eastern Christian Institute (Orange, New Jersey). He would then serve in local church ministry for 60-plus years in Pennsylvania in (Fayette City, Laughlintown and Camp Christian. The last 47 years were spent serving the congregation at Edinburg Christian Church in Edinburg.
He was an avid aircraft enthusiast in both military and commercial planes. He attended many air shows over his lifetime.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Ann (Donald) Swogger of Hudson, Florida; his sons, Jim (Tamny Sue) Snyder of Lake Milton, Ohio, Tim (Beth) Snyder of Belmont, Ohio, Chris (Lisa) Kennedy of McConnellsburg, and Scott (Gloria) Kennedy of New Castle; his grandchildren, Shelly, Chris, Mitch, Kaytlyn, Alex, Baylee, Luke, Nikki and Brooke; great-grandchildren, Paul, Emmie, Kainan and Kennedy.
He is preceded in death by his wife Elissia; his parents, Peter and Betty; two brothers, Peter and Ray; and a son, Jeffrey Kennedy.
The family would like to thank the staff at Carriage Manor for the excellent care he received while residing there.
There will be a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 7, 2019, at Edinburg Christian Church. Paul Porter will officiate.
