Delores D. (Fita) Popovich, 81, of New Castle passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2017, at Hospice House of Poland, Ohio, due to multiple injuries from an auto accident on Jan. 6, 2017.
Born on Aug. 13, 1935, in New Castle, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Sabia Ragnelli Manzo.
On Jan. 15, 1955, she married her beloved husband, James M. Popovich, and the two of them spent more than 54 years together until he preceded her in death on April 7, 2009.
In her earlier years, Delores worked in the laundry department for Golden Hill Nursing Home.
She was a member of Mary, Mother of Hope Parish. Delores also belonged to Ladies of the Dukes. She enjoyed playing cards and watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and Family Feud with Steve Harvey.
Delores always will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and her greatest joy came from cooking family dinners and spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
Delores is survived by her children, Judy Ferrucci and her husband, Robert, Linda Popovich and Charlene Kirkwood and her husband, Bruce, all of New Castle; and her grandchildren, Justin Kirkwood, Tyler Kirkwood, Briana Ferrucci and Madison Ferrucci.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Frank Anthony Popovich; her brothers, Domenick, John and Ralph Manzo; and her sisters, Frances Malizia and Lucy Manzo.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St.
Blessing services will be conducted at noon Thursday at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Frank Almade.
Interment will take place in Parkside Cemetery.
