Dorothy M. Regan, 85, of New Castle passed away the morning of Sunday, May 13, 2018, at her residence.
Mrs. Regan was born May 3, 1933, in New Castle, a daughter of the late Sylvester F. and Marie (Lazorchak) Zarilla.
She was a lifelong area resident and a 1951 graduate of New Castle Area High School.
Dorothy retired in 2000 from the Lawrence County Tax Claim Bureau, located in the Lawrence County Court House, where she worked as the tax claim director for 23 years.
She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church, New Castle.
Dorothy actively volunteered as a member of the Jameson Junior Guild at Jameson Memorial Hospital, New Castle.
She enjoyed playing cards, particularly 500, and actively participated in many card clubs throughout the area. Dorothy loved spending time with her Yorkshire Terriers, Maddie and Mickey, especially while taking them for walks outdoors.
Surviving are her beloved husband of 66 years, William "Bill" Regan Jr., whom she married April 5, 1952; a daughter, Deborah M. (Peter) Grauer of Buford, Georgia; a son, William E. (Rebecca) Regan III, of Dallas, Georgia; a sister, Shirley Konestky, Oil City; and a granddaughter, Casey.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Zarilla.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Church, with the Rev. James Downs as the celebrant.
