Dr. Peter's Story
Dr. Peter J. Mancino, 85, passed away Dec. 17, 2017, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
He was born in New Castle, Pa., on July 13, 1932. He was the son of the late Anna and Peter C. Mancino.
He was married for 59 years to Elizabeth "Betsy" Moyer Mancino, who survives him.
Dr. Mancino, who specialized in internal medicine, retired from private practice in 2002. During his career, he served on many committees at Jameson Hospital. He also was affiliated with the former St. Francis Hospital of New Castle, where he served as president of the medical-dental staff. He also was a past president of the Lawrence County Medical Society.
Dr. Mancino was a graduate of New Castle High School in 1950. He graduated from Westminster College in 1954. He received his doctor of medicine degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pa. He did his internship at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie, Pa., and also received a fellowship in internal medicine at the Cleveland Clinic.
Dr. Mancino also was certified in 1973 by the International Graphoanalysis Society. He served many times as an expert witness for the Lawrence County Courts and was on the teaching staff at the Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts.
In addition to his wife, Dr. Mancino is survived by five children, Beth Ann Eckian, Denise Stanley and husband Ed, Lynn Bradley and husband Brian, Charles Mancino and wife Sherry, and Jonathan Mancino. He is also survived by six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Lawrence County Animal Relief Fund, Box 8514, New Castle, Pa. 16107 and to the Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts, 124 E. Leasure Ave., New Castle, Pa. 16101.
