Edna M. Mihok, 82, of South New Castle Borough passed away the afternoon of Nov. 13, 2017, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.
Born on Aug. 2, 1935, in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Josephine Naples Sorbo. On Feb. 10, 1955, she married her beloved husband, John Mihok Sr., and the two of them spent over 48 years together until he preceded her in death on July 5, 2003.
Edna retired as an administrative secretary for H. Wolfe Iron and Metal after working for more than 40 years. She had been a member of the former Christian Assembly Church.
Edna served as a council member for the South New Castle Borough and as a treasurer for the Pennsylvania League of Boroughs. She belonged to the SNCB Ladies Auxiliary, Ladies of the Dukes and the Red Hat Society.
Edna was known as a very social person and loved to read.
Edna is survived by her children, John Mihok Jr. of Lake Mary, Fla., and Deborah L. Mihok of New Castle; brothers, Joseph Sorbo of New Castle and Rev. Anthony Sorbo of Souderton, Pa.; and sisters, Adelaide Strayer of Satellite Beach, Fla., and Ellen Aiello of New Castle. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Antoinette Sorbo; brothers, John and Andrew Sorbo; and sister, JoAnn Conrad.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. Services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Anthony Sorbo.
Interment will take place in Castleview Memorial Gardens.
