Eleanor E. DeCarbo, 101, formerly of East Division Street, passed away the evening of Dec. 15, 2017, at Avalon Nursing Home.
Born on July 22, 1916, in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Victoria Buono Gesue. On Nov. 24, 1938, she married her beloved husband, Michael A. DeCarbo. The two spent over 63 wonderful years together until he preceded her in death on Jan. 5, 2002.
Eleanor was a member of Mary, Mother of Hope Parish. A talented baker and cook, she entered and won a number of baking and cooking contests. Eleanor also enjoyed collecting Teddy bears and attended a Build-A-Bear workshop.
Eleanor is survived by her son-in-law, Donald A. Angel of Pittsburgh; sister-in-law, Delores Walters of New Castle; grandchildren, Michael Angel and wife Yuan, Donald R. Angel and wife Jennifer, and Mark Angel and wife Tammy; and great-granddaughter, Sydney.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Gerry Angel; brother, Nick Gesue; and sister, Celeste Capitola.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home Wednesday at 11 a.m. to attend a Mass of Christian burial at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary Church, officiated by Father Zachary Galiyas.
Interment will take place in St. Vitus Cemetery.
