Ethel Marie Guyer McLaren, 76, of New Castle lost her battle with cancer on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, surrounded by her family and friends.
Born on May 1, 1941, Ethel was the daughter of the late Mary Elzina Lesnett Guyer and Edward Harvey Guyer. She married James Thomas McLaren on June 25, 1956. He preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 2001.
Ethel worked for 11 years as a cashier for Wal-Mart.
She is survived by her children, Debra (Jeffrey) Jones, Linda Butera, Scott (Sue) McLaren and Lisa (Brian) Brunswick, all of New Castle, James (Tammy) McLaren of Edinburg, William (Tammy) McLaren, and Daniel Duffield, all of New Castle; brother, Jim Guyer of New Castle; 28 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Kathleen Guyer; brother, David Guyer; and infant son, James Thomas McLaren Jr.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m. at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. Services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Reverend Dennis Bupp.
Interment will take place in Graceland Cemetery.
