Florence's Story

Florence A. Lutz, 89, of New Castle passed away the evening of Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, at her residence.
Born on May 25, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Susan Frank Quint.
She is survived at home by her husband of 42 years, Duane "Dewey" Lutz.
Mrs. Lutz was a New Castle High School graduate, where she became its first homecoming queen. She graduated in the class of 1946.
She worked as a secretary for Attorney Sherman Levine, was an operator at Bell Telephone Company, and was a jewelry department manager at both Hills Department Store and Treasure Island Department Store. She also worked at Home Health Care, was a bus monitor and was a cashier for Giant Eagle.
Among her favorite activities, spending time with her family was what she treasured most.
She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Along with her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Judith (Daniel) Martwinski of New Castle and Arleen Crisci of Largo, Florida; a stepdaughter, Kathy (Frank) Costa; three sons, Richard Panella of Boca Raton, Florida, David (Karen) Panella of New Castle and Martin Panella of New Castle; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Panella of New Castle; a stepson, Gary (Mary Lou) Lutz of New Castle; a sister-in -law, Juanita Quint of San Jose, California; nine grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; a brother, John Quint; a sister, Anna Barletto; and a son, Anthony Panella.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home, 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, 984 W. Maitland Lane, New Castle.
A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Yergan officiating.
Burial will be at Castle View Memorial Gardens.
