Frank Mathews, 88, of 970 Sherwood Drive passed away the morning of Oct. 7, 2017, with his family by his side.
Frank was born Feb. 26, 1929, in New Castle. He was the son of the late George and Magdalena Staresinc Mathews.
Frank was married to the late Madge G. McCliamons. She preceded him in death on Oct. 10, 1981. Mr. Mathews was of the Roman Catholic faith.
Mr. Mathews enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on Sept. 23, 1943, in Pittsburgh, Pa. Frank earned the rank of Corporal. Mr. Mathew's military occupation was an Auto Mechanic. He was Honorably Discharged on Sept. 10, 1948, in Camp Lejeune, N.C.
Frank retired after 40 years of services as a machinist at the former Johnson Bronze Corporation. Frank enjoyed working with his hands, tinkering with anything and everything.
Frank is survived by two sons, William F. (Kathy) Mathews and Richard D. (Denise) Mathews, both of New Castle; one sister, Margaret Hutz of Sharon, Pa.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife Madge, Frank was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and George Mathews, and two sisters, Lilian Cimperman and Anne Cataldi.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, at Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 S. Mill St.
A Blessing Service will be held at noon Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017, in the funeral home. The Rev. Frank D Almade, pastor of St. Vitus Parish, will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
The family is asking that memorial donations be made in his name to the Family Hospice and Palliative Care, 50 Moffett St., Pittsburgh, Pa. 15243.
