Gary W.'s Story
Gary Walter Litwinowicz, 71, of Brant Beach, New Jersey, died at his home on Sept. 12, 2017.
Gary was born June 5, 1946, to Walter C. and Helen I. Zombek Litwinowicz in New Castle, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Neshannock High School in 1964, and the University of Pittsburgh in 1968 with a bachelor of arts degree in economics.
In his youth, Gary helped his family with sales and delivery at C. Walt Litwinowicz Beverage Distributor.
He began his professional career with General Motors in Warren, Ohio, and then worked for Touche Ross & Co. in New York, New York. Gary later joined the United States Postal Service (USPS) in Washington, D.C., where he served as an operating executive with job responsibilities that took him around the world.
He lived in West Milford, New Jersey, and enjoyed vacationing with his family in Long Beach Island (LBI), New Jersey. Gary considered LBI home and when he heard of an opening with the USPS that would allow him to both work and live on LBI, he found his dream job. He served as the postmaster for LBI for two years. In 2005, he retired to Brant Beach, New Jersey in LBI.
He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Brant Beach, and enjoyed riding his bike as the "unofficial mayor" around town and was a big part of the LBI community. His wit and wisdom will be missed by his family and friends.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Judy Litwinowicz (nee Lesniak); his children, Jeffrey Joseph Litwinowicz of Cold Spring, New York, and Amy Judith Noes of Clontarf, Australia, her husband, Nicolaj, and grandchildren, Ethan Andrew Noes, Emma Aysia Noes and Madison Ava Noes. He is also survived by his two sisters, Patricia H. Litwinowicz of New Castle and Alice M. Litwinowicz, Derwood, Maryland.

A Celebration of Life was offered and the funeral Liturgy was conducted at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Brant Beach on Sept. 29, 2017.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested memorial contributions in Gary's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Box 100, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
