George A. Murawski, 84, of 711 Confederate Lane, New Castle, passed away the morning of Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, at his residence.
George was born Oct. 12, 1933, in Erie. He was a son of the late Charles and Mary Micek Murawski.
George was married to the former Merida K. Reider. They were married for 52 years. She survives at home.
Mr. Murawski was Roman Catholic and attended St. Camillus de Lellis Parish.
He was a graduate of New Castle High School, class of 1951.
Mr. Murawski retired after 43 year of service as a conductor with P&LE; and CSX Railroads.
George was a member of the Polish Falcons Nest 146. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports teams fan. George enjoyed working on his home, doing all the plumbing and electrical work.
In addition to his wife, Merida, George is survived by brother-in-law, Herman R. Reider of Holden, Massachusetts, whom George helped raise from the age 5; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
Mr. Murawski was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edward and John Murawski; and sister, Helen Rozzi.
Calling hours are 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 S. Mill St.
The family is asking to meet at St. Camillus de Lellis Parish at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. The Rev. Michael Peck, pastor of St. Camillus de Lellis Parish, will officiate.
Burial will take place at SS. Philip and James Cemetery.
