Ginny L. McGary, 70, of Culpeper, Va., formerly of Hickory Hill, Volant, Pa., passed peacefully April 28, 2017, at the Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach, Fla.
Born in New Castle, Pa., on July 25, 1946, to the late John and Magadline Glorioso Favorite. She married Richard McGary in 1968, and he preceded her in death in 2009.
Ginny was a strong independent women who loved life to the fullest. After her retirement from Westminster College in Food Service, she had a great many pleasures in life from Broadway theater to travel.
She moved from her home at Hickory Hill to Culpeper to be with her family. She enjoyed the time with her grandson Colton. She also enjoyed volunteering at the church regarding the food bank and The Emerald Hill Elementary School, where her grandson attended.
Survivors include two daughters, Michelle Metzgar and husband Rodney of Culpeper and Nicole and her husband Michael Maddigan of Oakdale, Pa.; one son, Richard McGary and his wife Stefanie of Matthews, N.C.; a sister, Janet Law of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a sister, Joan Perrigo.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 6, at the Smith Funeral Home, 310 W. Neshannock Ave., New Wilmington, Pa., from 10 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m.m at the funeral home. Jimmy Fong will officiate.
