Helen A. Hardisky, 91 formerly of 2204 S. Jefferson St., passed away the evening of Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Helen was born Aug. 14, 1926, in New Castle. She was a daughter of the late Stanley J. and Severa "Cora" Sonski Kielar Sr.
Helen was married to Joseph A. Hardisky. He preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 1977. They were married for 31 years.
Mrs. Hardisky was Roman Catholic and attended St. Vincent de Paul Parish.
Helen was a graduate of Union High School, class of 1944.
Mrs. Hardisky worked for 10 years as a grinder at the former Shenango China Company. She also worked as an office worker at the former Johnson Bronze Company for five years.
She will be remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Hardisky was a member of the former St. Michaels Church. She enjoyed baking, embroidering, gardening and raising flowers.
Her greatest joy was spending time at her family.
Helen is survived by her five children, two daughters, Barbara A. (Raymond) Rich and Darlene M. (Michael) Data, both of New Castle, and three sons, Ronald A. (Deborah J.) Hardisky of New Castle, Richard M. (Mary M.) Hardisky of Volant and Joseph S. Hardisky of Ellwood City; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Joseph, Helen was preceded in death by her grandson, Jason S. Rich; sister, Virginia L. Adamo; and brother, Stanley J. Kielar Jr.
Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Parish.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at noon following visitation at St. Vincent de Paul Parish. The Rev. Zachary Galiyas, parochial vicar of St. Vincent de Paul Parish will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
