Helen E. Morrone, 95, of New Castle passed away the morning of Saturday, April 1, 2017, at her residence.
Born on Jan. 22, 1922, in New Castle, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Elizabeth Steinicker Shaftic.
On Aug. 24, 1940, she married her beloved husband, Rudy J. Morrone, and the two of them spent more than 67 years together until he preceded her in death on July 4, 2008.
Helen was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
She enjoyed watching baseball and football. Helen will always be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, wife and grandmother, who loved cooking for everyone and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Helen is survived by her children, Arlene Wright of Harmony, Pennsylvania, and Marcia Nagy and her husband, Daniel, of New Castle; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Kevin Nagy Jr.; her son-in-law, Warren Wright; her brothers, Stephen, Joseph, John, Paul and Walter Shaftic; and her sisters, Ann Badger, Sophia Donaldson and Dorothy Guz.
Visitation will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2323 Old Butler Road, New Castle, officiated by Pastor Ellen Lundie.
Interment will take place in Castle View Memorial Gardens.
