James S. Bloise, 86, of Union Township passed away the morning of Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Born on Jan. 3, 1931, in New Castle, he was a son of the late Anthony and Rose Frank Bloise. On Feb. 19, 1955, he married his beloved wife, the former Rose Geraci, and the two of them spent 59 wonderful years together until she preceded him in death on Feb. 14, 2015.
James worked for the Fenati Brick Company, Rocky's Market, Fisher Fazio and Valu King, and retired from Giant Eagle as meat department manager.
He served his country as a member of Army, fighting on the front lines during the Korean War.
He was a member of St. Vitus Church.
James always looked forward to the annual hunting trip to Corning, New York, with his brothers, nephews and friends, and made great memories.
He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Pittsburgh Pirates fan.
James loved to make sauce and meatballs for Sunday dinner. He cherished the time he spent with his family and being surrounded by his family. What a joy he got out of Brutus, the family dog.
James is survived by his children, Terry and son-in-law, Jim Bobosky, Doreen Vitullo and son-in law, Jimmy Vitullo, and most precious daughter, Brenda Bloise, who meant the world to him and who he cared for at home; granddaughters, Angela and Amanda Bobosky; grandson, Michael Vitullo; brothers, Frank and Nick Bloise; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Anthony Vitullo; sister, Mary Viggiano; and brothers, John, Joe, Sam and Andy Bloise.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St.
Services will be noon Saturday at the funeral home, officiated by Mr. Matthew Hawkins, St. Vitus Seminarian. The New Castle Area Honor Guard will conduct military rites at the funeral home.
Entombment will take place in Parkside Mausoleum.
