James F. Hamilton


James F. Hamilton, 84, of New Wilmington died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019, at Avalon Spring Nursing Home, Mercer.
He was born on Dec. 21, 1934, in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Charles Robert and Mabel Elizabeth Thompson Hamilton.
He married Shirley Irene Davies on Dec. 13, 1969, who survives at home.
Jim was retired as owner and operator of James Hamilton Trucking. A 1954 graduate of Wilmington High School, he served his country in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed snowmobiling, bowling, volleyball, spending time at his camp, playing poker and motorcycle riding.
In addition to his wife Shirley, he is survived by three daughters, Laurie (Scott) Palmer and Lonnie (Dale Buxton) Davis, both of West Middlesex, and Luanne (Randy) Macri of New Castle; one son, Scott P. (Lisa) Hamilton of New Wilmington; one sister, Marion (Randy) Davis of New Wilmington; and four step-children, Charlene (Bill) White of Volant, Michele (Don) Bollinger of New Wilmington, Richard Swisher of Stoneboro, and Brian (Paula) Swisher of New Castle; 23 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren complete the family.
Jim is preceded in death by a great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2019, at The Smith Funeral Home, 310 W. Neshannock Ave., New Wilmington. Funeral services, with full Military Honors, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2019, at The New Wilmington Presbyterian Church, South Market Street, New Wilmington, with Rev. Dr. Matthew Camlin officiating. Interment will follow at Neshannock Cemetery, New Wilmington.
