James R. Yost, 74, of New Beaver Borough passed away Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, following a brief illness.
Born May 11, 1943, in Racine, Ohio, he was a son of the late Robert E. and Janice E. Buckley Yost.
He was married to Janet R. Nicely Yost for 51 years.
Jim was a lifelong farmer, owning and operating Yost Farms.
He received numerous awards for his agricultural excellence, including the Eastern United States Master Farmers Award.
Jim was a former board of director of the Penn State Extension. He was also active with the Beaver Lawrence County and the Pennsylvania farm bureaus.
Jim was a member of the Meridian Lodge 411 F&AM in Enon Valley, and was a former New Beaver Borough councilman.
He was a member of New Life Baptist Church in New Wilmington.
In addition to his wife, Janet, survivors include a daughter, Jamie (Doug) Moon of Enon Valley; a son, Robert (Julie) Yost of New Beaver Borough; two sisters, Judy (Wayne) Reagle of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, and Peggy (Jack) McCready of New Beaver Borough; and five grandchildren, Jordyn (Paul) Weidle, Mackenzie Moon, and Riah, Carter and Alayna Yost.
Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Marshall Funeral Home, 341 Main St., Wampum.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Fair officiating.
