Jane Hoye Grauel died at age 95 on Nov. 18, 2017, at the McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich, Mass.
Jane grew up in New Castle, Pa., where she also raised her own family before retiring to Centerville on Cape Cod with her husband more than 20 years ago.
She held an Associate in Arts Degree in Letters, Arts and Sciences with Distinction from The Pennsylvania State University, Shenango Campus, and was a dedicated member of Barnstable Newcomer's Club Book Club.
She was a formidable bridge player and volunteered many hours at the Jameson Memorial Hospital in Pennsylvania and at the Cape Cod Hospital Thrift Shop on Cape Cod.
She was an excellent cook and had a kind spirit and quick sense of humor. She was also a tireless volunteer for and supporter of her husband's participation in the Chatham Chorale. She was fiercely devoted to her family, who will miss her for all of their days.
Jane is survived by her husband of 70 years, Dr. Theodore A. Grauel Jr., and her sister, Mary Bailey, of Richmond, Va. Jane will always be treasured in the hearts of her children: daughter Barbara of Gaithersburg, Md.; son Theodore and his wife Karen, of Ballston Spa, N.Y.; daughter Louisa and her husband Mark Collins M.D. of Centerville, Mass.; son Douglas and his wife Linda Paslaski of Bow, N.H.; and her six grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
