Joan Wojnar, 71, of 1018 Decorath Lane passed away the morning of Dec. 30, 2017, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Joan was born June 25, 1946, in New Castle. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Ida Bracichowicz Luczak.
She was married to Henry S. Wojnar. He survives at home. They were married for 37 years.
Joan was Roman Catholic and a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish. Mrs. Wojnar was a graduate of New Castle High School, class of 1964.
Joan continued her education at Erie Business College in 1995.
Mrs. Wojnar will be remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She worked outside the home for 13 years at Rockwell International, later retiring after employment as a janitorial custodian through St. Motitz Services at Liberty Mutual Insurance.
Mrs. Wojnar enjoyed baking, listening to music and playing bingo. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her husband Henry, Joan is survived by her daughter, Stephanie L. (John) Covert of New Castle, and her grandson, Nolin Marcus, of New Castle.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Carmen Carney; and brother, Michael Luczak.
Calling hours will be 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, at the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 S. Mill St., New Castle.
A Blessing service will be celebrated at 6 p.m. following visitation in the funeral home. Rev. Frank D. Almade, pastor of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery.
