Joseph J. Patti, 80, of 60 Wynfield Lane, New Wilmington, passed away the evening of Friday, June 2, 2017, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, of acute leukemia.
Joseph was born on Dec. 16, 1936, in Jamestown, New York. He was a son of the late Jack and Mary Lupone Patti.
He was married to the former Marie A. Koszela. They were married for 36 wonderful years. She survives at home.
Mr. Patti was of the Roman Catholic faith.
Mr. Patti was drafted into the Navy on Jan. 1, 1956. Joseph served his country for two years, earned the rank seaman, and was stationed on the U.S.S. Antietam (CVS-36). Mr. Patti was honorably discharged and released from active duty on Jan. 6, 1959. He served active reserved duty until Jan. 18, 1962.
Mr. Patti retired in 1998 from the Vindicator Printing Company in Youngstown, Ohio.
Joseph graduated from a vocational training school for printing in Colorado.
He and his lovely wife, Marie, enjoyed traveling for many years and loved spending their winters in Florida. Joseph also enjoyed going on bus trips to casinos.
In addition to his wife, Marie, he is survived by two sisters, Joanne M. (Rex) Thomas of Frewsburg, New York, and Beverly Berg Norlander of Jamestown, New York; his brothers and sisters-in-law, James (Patricia) Uram of New Wilmington, Stanley (Barbara) Koszela of Murrills Inlet, South Carolina, and Richard (Sharon) Koszela of New Castle; and numerous nieces, nephews great-nieces and great-nephews.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Mary Patti.
Private service was held at the Noga Funeral Home Inc. The Rev. William Siple, parochial vicar of St. Vitus Parish, officiated.
Burial was in SS. Philip and James Cemetery.
