Joya J. Jordan


Joya J. Jordan, 83, of Grove City, formerly of New Castle and Lake Barcroft, Virginia, passed peacefully at home the afternoon of Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018.
Joya was born on Dec. 3, 1934, in New Castle to the late Charles Harmony and Marie (Langford) Johnson III.
Joya married John C. "Jack" Jordan of Grove City on May 5, 1957, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 2003.
She was a graduate of Stuart Hall School, Staunton, Virginia, and the University of Kentucky, Lexington, Kentucky.
Joya served on the board of directors of the National City Christian Church in Washington D.C.
She was a longtime member of Tower Presbyterian Church, Grove City.
Joya and her husband, Jack, returned to Grove City in 1993 for retirement. She became an active member with the volunteers at Grove City Medical Center and Grove City Community Library.
Joya is survived by five children, John C. Jordan Jr. and wife, Joyce, of Center Valley, Pennsylvania, Langford K. Jordan and wife, Carol, of Castle Rock, Colorado, Charles J. Jordan and wife, Sue, of Barnum, Minnesota, Grace J. Robb and husband, Michael, of Springfield, Virginia, and Benjamin J. Jordan and wife, Janelle, of Minneapolis; 15 grandchildren; and a sister, Grace J. Perkins of San Francisco.
In addition to her parents and husband, Joya's grandmother, Grace Phillips Johnson; and two brothers, Charles Harmony Johnson IV and William Langford Johnson, preceded her in death.
Memorial contributions may be made to Tower Presbyterian Church, 248 S. Broad St., Grove City, PA 16127; or Grove City Community Library, 125 W. Main St, Grove City, PA 16127.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Cunningham Funeral Home Inc., 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City
Burial will be in Unity Cemetery, Harlansburg.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Tower Presbyterian Church in the E. J. Fithian Chapel.
