A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at at Holy Family Church, with Msgr. William J. Connell officiating, for Judith Ann (Occhibone) Cochran, 70, who passed away Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, at her home.
Judy was born Dec. 23, 1946, in New Castle, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Virginia Pearl (Lambiase) Occhibone.
Judy was a 1964 graduate of New Castle Senior High School.
Judy was employed at the Lawrence County Government Center Prothonotary's Office as a deputy clerk. She then went on to work at the Pennsylvania State Liquor Store. After working for many years, she then retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier.
Judy's greatest joys were her daughters, grandchildren and her great-grandson. There wasn't a holiday or Sunday that Judy didn't have her entire family surrounding her and enjoying all of the foods and baked goods she loved making for all of them.
She also enjoyed her casino trips with her family.
Judy also taught CCD at Mary, Mother of Hope Parish, and Holy Family Church for more than 20 years.
Judy is survived by her husband, James L. Cochran, whom she married Feb. 3, 1968; two daughters, Jamie M. (Kristie) Cochran of New Castle and Katina A. (Joey Pitzulo) Cochran-Soltis of Poland; seven grandchildren, Amber (Weston) Ferrari-Wagner, Brandon (Haley Patterson) Ferrari, Austin Soltis, Dylan Soltis, Andrew Pitzulo, Cameron Pitzulo and Monte; a great-grandson, Blake Wagner; two sisters, Colleen (John) Haun of New Castle and Donna Baldwin of Juneau, Alaska; two brothers, Nicholas Occhibone of Tucson, Arizona, and Michael (Fran) Occhibone of New Castle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Judy was also preceded in death by a brother, David A. Occhibone.
In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be made to the family or in the form of donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Burial will take place at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
Professional arrangements are being handled by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel.
