Judith E. Pander, 70, of 1391 Lightner Place, New Castle, passed away surrounded by her loving family the evening of Saturday, March 11, 2017, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Judith was born on March 5, 1947, in New Castle. She was a daughter of the late Peter and Dorothy Mae Davis Melnick.
Judith was married to James F. Pander. He preceded her in death on Jan. 12, 2002. They were married for 36 years.
Mrs. Pander was of the Orthodox faith and a member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church.
Judith was a graduate of New Castle High School, class of 1965.
Mrs. Pander retired after 18 years of service as a cashier for Giant Eagle.
Judith was very active in her church, helping out wherever needed. She enjoyed cooking, making nut rolls for the church, loved to discuss all politics and was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
She is survived by two daughters, Michele (David) Burnstein of Gibsonia, Pennsylvania, and Alysia Pander-Froce of New Castle; a sister, Dorothy E. Black of New Castle; four grandchildren, Noelle (fiance Frank Miller), Alex, Jeremy and Maxton; and a great-granddaughter, Sophia.
In addition to her parents and husband, James, she was preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Mason.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 S. Mill St., New Castle.
A funeral service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. Richard Salley, pastor of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery.
