Judith M. "Judi" Stoops, 74, of Wurtemburg, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Heritage Valley Medical Center.
Born in Beaver on March 16, 1945, Judi was a daughter of the late Daniel and Louise Murphy Weisz Sr.
Judi is survived by her husband, Carl P. Stoops, whom she married on Dec. 6, 1963.
She was a co-owner of Ellwood Answering Service and later worked in the administration department at Geneva College, but her favorite job was the eight years as a granny nanny.
Judi was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was a past church council and congregational president. She was also a member of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Faith Circle and past president of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Synod Women of the ELCA.
She was a member of the Ellwood City Moose Lodge. Judi was Class president of the first graduating class in 1963 at Riverside High School, where she was also the co-writer of the school alma mater. She received her degree from Geneva College in 1997.
In addition to her husband, Judi is survived by her three children, Carl P. Stoops III of Madison, Alabama, Julianne L. Boots of Fombell and Laurel R. (Ed) Rae of Cranberry Township; eight grandchildren, Aaylah Stoops, Takara Stoops, Halen Butarac, Marina Fec, Eden Rae, Ellis Rae, Jerry Boots and April Boots; six sisters, Norma Decker of North Sewickley, Shirley Pendleton of Lancaster, California, Marian Carlin of Hadley, Idaho, and Charlotte Wilson, Doris Keane and Vonda Reese, all of Ellwood City; and two brothers, Lloyd Weisz of New Castle and Robert Jones of Ellwood City.
Besides her parents, Judi was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Weisz.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Joseph A. Tomon Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 97 Grim Ave., Ellport, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with Pastor Peggy Suhr-Barkley officiating.
Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Family suggests memorial contributions be made in Judi's name to Trinity Lutheran Church, 207 Spring Ave., Ellwood City, Pa. 16117.
