Lelonie Arnold Miller
Lelonie Arnold Miller, 75, of New Castle and formerly of Mercer, went home to be with the Lord on Sept. 15, 2019, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital after a brief illness.
Lelonie, affectionately known by family and friends as "Lee," was born on Feb. 8, 1944, in New Castle, a daughter of the late Paul and Mary Margaret (Watters) Smith.
Raised in New Castle, she was a 1962 graduate of Laurel High School.
Lee was a dedicated homemaker and worked for Tic Toc on East Washington Street for 14 years. For more than 36 years, she enjoyed being a demonstrator for Home Interiors, meeting many friends along the way. She was proud to have achieved top seller for the company numerous times throughout her career.
In her free time, Lee enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, playing bingo, crocheting and baking, gifting many of her delicious pies to lucky recipients. She also enjoyed making all types of crafts and was especially known for her "bunny baskets" that she often sold while working at Tic Toc.
Over the years, Lee enjoyed attending Weight Watchers, Over Eaters Anonymous and Silver Sneakers. One of her biggest life accomplishments was losing 181 pounds and she faithfully kept it off. Lee took great pride in her appearance and loved fashion, jewelry and could always be found with beautifully painted fingernails.
Lee will be fondly remembered for her generous nature, her ability to always make people feel special, especially by sending thank you notes, and her ease to laugh.
She is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, John Miller, whom she married on Dec. 3, 1994; two children, Danny Arnold and his wife, Nancy, of New Castle and Paula (Arnold) Eakin of New Castle; five stepchildren, John (Debbie) Miller, Bonnie (James) Miller, Jim (Kathy) Miller, Linda (Manny) Valenzuela and Ray (Robin) Miller; sisters, Cindy (Bob) Cisco of Ellwood City and Peggy Smith of New Castle; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Lee was preceded in death by her stepmother, Rudy Styers-Smith; and brothers, Paul Robert "Smitty," Larry and Gary Smith.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St., where a funeral service will immediately follow at 7 p.m. The Rev. Chuck Jewell will officiate.
