Maria A. "Mylia" Vendemia, 78, of Villa Maria passed away the evening of Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, at her niece's residence.
Born on July 24, 1939, in New Castle, she was a daughter of the late Stefano "Steve" and Anna C. DeNuccio Vendemia.
Mylia worked as a receptionist for Bessemer Cement and she later retired from Liberty Mutual as a service representative.
She was devoted to her faith and church, Christ the King Parish.
Mylia enjoyed playing cards, knitting and crocheting, and in her earlier years, she liked traveling. She will always be remembered as a loving sister, aunt and great-aunt.
Mylia is survived by her nieces, Shelley McConnell of Bessemer and Toni Lynn Hay and her husband, John, of Hendersonville, North Carolina; nephews, David Vendemia of Snow Hill, North Carolina and Steve Vendemia and his wife, Susan, of West Hartford, Connecticut; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Shane McConnell, Justin McConnell, Ashley McConnell, Makenzie McConnell, Zachary Vendemia, Abigail Vendemia, Carly (Matt) Brownell, Anthony Vendemia and Stephanie Vendemia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Anthony and David Vendemia; and her sister, Concetta Canfora.
Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St.
A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Monday to attend a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. James the Apostle Church, officiated by the Rev. Frank Almade.
Interment will take place in St. Vitus Cemetery.
