Mario A. Mastren, 74, of New Castle passed away the evening of Feb. 19, 2017, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Born on May 30, 1942, in New Castle, he was the son of the late Robert and Helen Venditto Mastren.
Mario had worked for St. Francis Hospital, and he later retired from Shenango Pottery. He was a member of St. Vitus Church. Mario enjoyed painting houses and watching sports.
He is survived by his brothers, August Mastren and Floyd Mastren, both of New Castle; sister, Helen Janis of Cortland, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Casey and Ben Mastren; sisters, Phyllis Mastren, Lillian Kolodgy and Mary Bullano; and two infant sisters.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. A procession will leave DeCarbo's Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. to attend a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. at St. Vitus Church, officiated by Father Frank Almade, pastor.
Interment will take place in St. Vitus Cemetery.
