Mark Stephen McGinnis, 32, passed away at his home in New Castle on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017.
Mark was born in New Castle on Oct. 26, 1984.
He graduated from Wilmington Area High School in 2003, where he was a proud member of the Greyhound football team. He subsequently went on to study to be come an electrician at the New Castle School of Trades.
Mark enjoyed sports, the outdoors, fishing and enjoyed his life with his friends and family. He was a particularly big fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and the Wilmington Greyhounds.
Mark regularly attended services at Castlewood Alliance Church and New Life Baptist Church.
Mark will be remembered for his infectious smile, laughter and disposition which so often elevated the spirits of those around him.
Mark is lovingly remembered by his father, Kevin McGinnis and wife Judy of New Castle; mother, Lynn Oestreich and her partner Robie Moorhouse of Painesville, Ohio; brother, Kevin McGinnis of Honolulu, Hawaii; sister, Mandy McGinnis and her partner Christopher Cameron of New Castle; grandmother, Lorraine Jones of Finleyville, Pa.; his stepgrandfather Richard Fischer of Hermitage; best friend, Melissa Kramer of Pittsburgh; and his adoring nieces and nephew.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Walter McGinnis, Paul Jones and Mabel McGinnis Fischer, as well as his stepfather, Dane Oestreich.
Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 25, 2017, from 1 p.m. until the service at 4 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, 310 W. Neshannock Ave., New Wilmington. Rev. Jim O'Hara of Castlewood Alliance Church will officiate.
