Martha I. Wolford


Martha I. Wolford, 85 of New Castle passed into the presence of her Lord on July 28, 2019, at UPMC Jameson Care Center.
Born July 21, 1934, in Youngstown, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Torrence Guy and Velma P. (Ruby) Van Meter.
She married her beloved husband, Glenn A. Wolford, on June 20, 1952. He preceded her in death on May 23, 2014. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Van Meter.
Mrs. Wolford was a graduate of Union High School.
She was employed by Westminster College as an executive secretary for 28 years. She was also a secretary at Sisters of Humility of Mary Community Center.
Martha loved to read, but what gave her the most joy in life was spending time with her family.
She was a member of First Alliance Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years
Martha is survived by three daughters, Mary Jane (William) Kalajainen of Lansdale, Pennsylvania; Leslie (Dennis) Ratvasky of Pulaski and Sandra (Greg) Workman of Dayton, Ohio; a son, Gary (Betsy) Wolford of New Castle; five grandchildren, Kiersten (Talbot) Reiber, Aaron (Erin) Workman, Brady (Jillian) Workman, Nick Wolford and Steve Wolford; and two great-grandchildren, Romney and Tenley Reiber.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday at First Alliance Church, 111 Mission Meade Drive, New Castle, Pa. 16105.
A service will take place immediately following visitation at 6 p.m. with the Rev Philip Harrison officiating.
Burial will be beside her husband at Evergreen Cemetery.
