Mary Ann "Mary Dina" Medina Cangey, 84, of Cypress, Calif., passed away Dec. 12, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on Oct. 29, 1933, in Mahoningtown, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Carmella and Frank Medina.
She married Richard "Dick" Cangey on Oct. 3, 1953, and remained in Pennsylvania for several years having the first two of four children, Frank and Rick, before moving to California. Later in California, they had Michael and Karen.
Mary had a very close and caring family growing up with her parents, along with four siblings. She was always a lovely woman with the most stunning blue eyes. She was a true matriarch of the Cangey family and a devoted Catholic. She had a spunk about her with a clever wit.
Mary enjoyed cooking and baking with friends and family. She was an amazing cook and baked Italian cookies for holidays and weddings, while listening to her music of the moment (Italian, Frank Sinatra, Bocelli, Christmas during the holidays and more).
She was happiest being surrounded by her family enjoying visits to Disneyland, plays and musicals, and social events at the senior citizen club, beauty days getting her nails and hair done.
In addition to her children, Mary is survived by her siblings, Helen Medina and Truman and Anthony "Chico" Medina; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank "Jr." Medina Jr. and Dominic Medina.
Mary will be missed greatly by the countless souls whose lives she touched. The family would like to thank you and extend an invitation to calling hours that will be held on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church. Following calling hours, a Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. at the church, officiated by Father Frank Almade.
Interment will take place in St. Lucy Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.decarbofuneralhome.com.
