Mary's Story

Mary Rose Ross, 89, formerly of Lutton Street, passed away the afternoon of Feb. 11, 2017, at the Edison Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in New Castle on Oct. 20, 1927, Mary was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Meluso Sandullo. Preceding her in death on Aug. 4, 2003, is her husband of over 56 years, John M. Ross Jr., whom she married on Jan. 4, 1947.
She was a member of St. Vitus Church. Mary had worked for as a secretary for the Overhead Door Company. Prior to that she had worked for Steiners Fabrics, the Tom McCann Shoe Store and the Betty Gay Department Store. Mary enjoyed going to the lake and was a member of the Sandy Lake Water Ski Club. She loved spending time with her nieces and nephews.
Mary is survived by her brother-in-law and his wife, Eugene Ross Sr. and Becky of Edinburg, and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her two brothers, John Sandullo and Joseph Sandullo, and her four sisters, Rose Damiano, Louise Deli, Congetta Miranda and Madeline Harding.
Visitation is Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St., followed by a Blessing Service at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m., officiated by Father Joseph Codori.
