New Castle native and Cleveland, Ohio, resident, Mary Pauline Ungar, 89, went to be with the Lord, just one week after her sacred sister, Sister Mary Margaret Nolan who passed away on March 20, 2017, on the evening of March 29, 2017.
Born on Jan. 29, 1928, in New Castle, Pauline was the beautiful daughter of the late Tom and Margaret Burns Nolan.
She had attended St. Mary's School and graduated from New Castle High School. Pauline then worked at Universal Rundle, where she met her husband Bill. On June 28, 1959, she married her beloved husband, William S. Ungar, and the two spent over 21 years together until he preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 1981.
Pauline and Bill owned and operated transportation trucking company Ungar Agency with Yellow Freight and PII Motor Express. She and Bill were members of the New Castle Transportation Association.
She was a member of St. Mary Church of Mary, Mother of Hope Parish and St. Brendan Catholic Church in Cleveland.
Pauline will always be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, sister, daughter and grandmother. Her devoted daughter Mary and loving son Bill were blessed and honored to care for Pauline throughout her life until the hour of her death.
Pauline leaves behind to cherish her memories her children, Mary Susan Ungar of Washington, D.C., Arlington, Va., and Cleveland, and William S. Ungar Jr. of Cleveland, and grandchildren, Cara Elizabeth Ungar and Nicholas Nix. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her ever-loving sister, Sister Mary Margaret Nolan of the Benedictine Sisters of Jesus Crucified of the Monastery of the Glorified Cross in Branford, Conn.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road. Services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Deacon John Carran.
Interment will take place in Castleview Memorial Gardens.
