Mauro Chiaverini, Sr., 84, entered into rest Sunday February 4, 2018 at his home. He was the husband of Elizabeth "Betty" (Cimini) Chiaverini for 57 years. Viewings will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc. 902 Mt. Rose Ave., and 10-11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church 2935 Kingston Rd. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. at the church with Rev. Steven Fernandes OFM Cap as celebrant. Entombment will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery.
Mr. Chiaverini was born February 2, 1934 in Palena, Abruzzi, Italy, a son of the late Ferdinando and Maria (Muscente) Chiaverini. He retired from DuPont with 38 years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, the Sons of Italy York Lodge, and the Abruzzi and Molise Heritage Society. He was a graduate of University of Pittsburgh and Geneva College.
Mauro is survived by his wife; sons Mauro Chiaverini, Jr., Michael Chiaverini and his wife Yirong, David Chiaverini and his wife Anna Maria, Mark Chiaverini and his wife Jessica; grandchildren Renee Elizabeth, Matthew, Leah, Nicole Elizabeth, Sophia, Charles, Lena; 2 sisters-in-law Rosina Chiaverini and Clara Chiaverini. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Antonino Chiaverini, Rino Chiaverini and Anthony Chiaverini, and a sister Adelina Chiaverini. Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Edmond's Academy, located at 2120 Veale Road, Wilmington DE, 19810.
