Nellie N. Romeo, 97, of 3911 W. Main St., Hillsville, Pa., passed away the morning of Aug. 2, 2017, at the Avalon Nursing Center.
Nellie was born March 26, 1920, in New Castle. She was the daughter of the late Benedetto and Anna Mascio Colecchi.
Nellie married the late Frank Romeo. He preceded her in death in 1960. Mrs. Romeo was of the Roman Catholic faith and a member of St. Camillus de Lellis Church.
Mrs. Romeo will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother by her family. Nellie retired after 40 years as a beautician at her own beauty salon in Hillsville. Nellie was a member of the women's guild at St. Camillus de Lellis. Nellie enjoyed crocheting, baking and cooking for her family. She loved going on bus trips with the church.
Nellie is survived by two daughters, Joan (Mike) Duncan of Hillsville and Maureen McCollum of Youngstown, Ohio; four grandchildren, Michael Duncan, Kristine Domenick, Roy McCollum and Nicholas McCollum; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband Frank, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Anthony and Benjamin Colecchi; four sisters, Victoria Delprincipe, Julia Colecchi, Emma Muller and Assunda (Sue) Mitlo.
Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, at the Noga Funeral Home Inc.
The family is asking everyone meet at St. Camillus de Lellis Parish, Tuesday at 10 a.m., where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. The Rev. Michael Sedor will officiate. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Online condolences may be viewed or given by visiting nogafuneralhome.com.
