Patricia A. McAnlis

Events

Patricia Ann McAnlis (m: Bissett), a bright, funny, creative soul and avid gardener passed away on August 22, 2019 at her home and in her family's loving care.
Born on December 29, 1942 to Norman and Amy Louise Bissett (Myers) in Sligo, Pennsylvania, Patricia (Pat) was always surrounded by a big family-sister Virginia and five brothers, George, Tom, Rob, Duane, and Jamie (d.).
In her early career, she was one of the first computer analysts for Dollar Bank in Youngstown, OH. A friend there introduced her to a young man named Wallace (Wally) McAnlis on a blind date, and they married in 1967. Together they built their home in Enon Valley and raised three daughters, Colleen, Jennifer, and Amy. In her own words, "The world was never better for me...I had three beautiful girls and an amazing husband to look out for us."
Her girls will always remember and love their Mom's drawings, crafts, avid sewing projects and times with her at Girl Scout Camp where they camped all summer as "staff brats." As a Girl Scout volunteer, she was a role model for many young women. She never said no to family camping or canoe trips, leaving many stories to be lovingly told again and again.
Her grandsons, Glenn and Craig and her granddaughter, Anna loved to bake (and eat) cookies and play cards with their Mama and will always remember those happy times with her. Sons-in-law Jon Bohlman (Colleen), John H. Harvey (Jennifer) and Evan Chaney (Amy) remember her fondly.
Pat had a connection to nature and a deep empathy for all living things. She made every life she touched better through that very special gift, leaving a legacy in wildflowers and a planet kinder to all creatures.
Friends and family know that everyone was welcome at her kitchen table and many spent time with her there seeking a listening ear or bit of advice.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday, August 25 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Terry A. Cunningham Funeral Home at 203 Oak Street in Bessemer, PA. Close friends and family will also celebrate her life privately at a later time.

Wally, Colleen, Jennifer, and Amy,
I regret that I cannot be there this afternoon. My usual, driver, Jeff, is not available, and it is not safe for me to drive. I will forever remember the help Wally and Pat selflessly provided to me in 1971 when my life was rather dark. The world would be a much better place if everyone had a sister like Pat.
